MCTD Track Plan


Latest Draft

This is the latest draft of the track plan for the MCTD. As always, I consider this plan a work-in-progress, and not all elements are shown. In particular, benchwork sections may not appear in the plan.

Changes from last version

Minor revision.

  • Added a crossover near Crown Cork & Seal to allow trains to cross back and forth. Previously trains on the Chessie side that want to Consolidated Coal couldn’t get back out to the Chessie mainline.

I often say a track plan is never finished, it’s just the latest draft. In fact you can search for it above and find at leat two or three instances! Here’s some past versions of the plan, in case you’re interested in the evolution.

  • Minor modification to B&O track between Eastern Ave and the B&O/Conrail crossover increasing length and slightly reducing grade

    • Added runaround track to support new industrial peninsula
    • Removed "turnout to nowhere"
  • Removed B&O Bayview Yard completely
  • Removed Engine servicing area completely

    • Minor modifications to B&O trackage to support entrance to Wicomico St area.

      • Modified orientation of Wicomico St.
      • Modified some industry locations relative to other industries
      • Reduced street trackage storage to one track near Raleigh Industrial Center
      • Dropped W.T. Burnett from plan.
    • "Halethorpe" (May need to be renamed, as it now bears little to no relation to the actual Halethorpe area)
      • Added "Laura's Own" (freelance industry)
      • Added Team Track
      • Added Sorting Yard
      • Added National Bohemian Brewery (based loosely on Carling Brewery from Halethorpe)
  • Added additional backdrop behind National Bohemian Brewery to allow space for spray booth vent
